10 Major Postpartum Body Changes

Are you scared of new responsibilities you have to take after entering motherhood? But, do you know that motherhood is not only about taking care of a baby but to cope with your Postpartum Body Pain and Stress. You will face many new changes in your body and the whole experience would be new for you.

Therefore, below are the few major changes that you will see and feel in your Postpartum Body, about which you should have knowledge. Coz, without information and knowledge, How you will handle your Postpartum Body challenges.  

1) When your Periods will Return after Baby Birth

 New Mothers who are not Breastfeeding their baby will returns to their period within four to eight weeks after childbirth. On the other hand, Breastfeeding Mothers will have to wait for 6 to 7 months or maybe longer to have normal menstruate. 

2) Cramps

After Giving Birth to your Baby, your Uterus will continue to contract for about a week’s time to get back into Pre-Pregnancy Body. Mothers who are breastfeeding their baby will feel strong cramps in the first few days. And, if this is your first baby then it will be more strong. 

3) Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)

While Pregnancy, Body Pain, Back Pain, Hip, and Legs are a few common discomforts. generally, this pain should be gone in a few days after Baby’s Birth.  but, if you still feel the strong pain in your pelvic area than you need to contact your doctor for the medication. 
 you need to get it treated from your doctor, otherwise, it will stay with you for about 2 to 3 years after Postpartum Period.

4) Perspiration (Sweating)

Sweating after the pregnancy happened, when your body is getting rid of extra fluid and due to changes in hormones. You should consider wearing lightweight clothes, especially during the night time to avoid postpartum sweating.

5) Abdominal Separation 

Diastasis recti are also known as abdominal separation. It occurs when the stomach muscles weaken and separate during and after pregnancy. it feels like there is a bulging (belly) around your middle area, and your stomach muscles have separated. It will take time to get it to heal, just remember that do not try to twist or sit-ups. 

6) Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids occur when the veins in the lower rectum or anus become swollen and inflamed. when you’re pregnant, the pushing of veins to bulge around your anus. this can result in a bit of pain, itchy, and bleeding. avoid doing any kind of heavy physical exercise, not sit or stand for long periods. 

Talk to your doctor, if it becomes more painful. You should include lots of fiber foods in your diet and drink lots of water for relief. You can take a bath in warm water.

7) Vaginal Prolapse

Vaginal Prolapse can happen when the tissue and muscles inside the pelvis become weak around the vagina and allowing the uterus, bladder, rectum, urethra to shift outside of their normal positions. 

Many mothers are not able to identify this problem due to less awareness about this problem. You can use Kegel exercises to strengthen your muscles.

Below are some symptoms, which will help you to identify that you have Vaginal prolapse.

– Strong pressure between your legs may feel pressure or heaviness in the pelvis or vagina.
– Pain in your lower back or belly.
– Enlarged vaginal opening.
– Difficulty emptying the bladder or bowels.
– Pain during using the washroom
– Pain during the sex

8) Sore Breast

Sore breast is very common for mothers you are breastfeeding their newborn baby. You will start feeding your baby from the second day after your baby birth, and for you and baby it will take some time to understand ‘Which is the Best Position to Breastfeed your Baby’.

After breastfeeding your baby for 3 to 5 days, your breast will become hard and the skin of your nipple will start coming out. In this situation, you need to apply medicated ointment for nipple repair. You can apply an ice pack for immediate relief.

9) Vaginal Bleeding

The most common problem after pregnancy, it will go in 2 to 6 weeks. you need XL Size Pads and maybe you need to change every 2 to 3 hours. there is no need to get worried, as it will disappear in some days. Do not use tampons until after your postpartum checkup.

10) Vaginal Discomfort or Pain

If you have a baby through cesarean section, then, it’s very normal that you will feel discomfort, itchy, feel numb, or feel prickly when you touch your stitches area. Your doctor will give you medicated powder to apply on your stitches to keep it dry. be careful during your bath time, sit on a stool, and then take a bath. this will take at least a few months for you to get rid of this discomfort and pain.
