Home Remedy for Vomiting in Babies/Toddlers

1 # Increase your Child’s Fluid Intake

Just make sure that your child is taking enough fluids. It will help him to keep away from Diarrhea. If your child is having mild vomiting then the chances of dehydration become less. But in case your child is vomiting more than 7 to 8 times then definitely he has dehydration.

To keep him away from dehydration, you can give him ORS or homemade salty water. Start giving him small sips and in case your child again vomits then wait for half an hour and then give the fluids. But don’t stop giving him fluids because his body needs the calories again which he had lost due to vomit.

Please remember that too much fluid intake can again cause vomiting. Therefore give the fluid to your kids in small quantities.

2 #  Give your Child Easy Digest Foods

For breastfeeding babies, mothers should try to give more feed to the baby as compared to normal days for a shorter period because due to vomiting your baby was not able to take continuously fed for a longer time.

If you are bottle-feeding or breastfeeding your babies do not stop you’re fed.

For babies who are on solid food try to avoid giving them solid food for the first 24 hours after the vomiting begins. Try to give your baby as much as fluid you can give. Try giving him by spoon or bottle.

After the baby’s health is getting better start giving him light and easy-to-digest food like khichdi, crackers, toast, broths, mild soups, mashed potatoes & cereal, etc, avoid giving them high-fiber foods. As soon as your baby is back to the normal routine you can start his normal daily diet.

3 #  Give Rehydration solution (ORS) made at Home

You must have heard about ORS Ghol in advertisements. In the case of diarrhea, Oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is used. It’s a type of fluid replacement used to prevent and treat dehydration due to diarrhea.

You can give oral rehydration solution (ORS) to babies such as Pedialyte, Ceralyte, & Gastrolyte in small doses, the doctor also recommends this. But please check with your doctor about how much rehydration fluid you should give your baby as per his or her age.

4 #  How to Make ORS Ghol at Home

Ingredients: Six (6) level teaspoons of Sugar, Half (1/2) level teaspoon of Salt. One Liter of clean drinking or boiled water and then cooled – 5 cupfuls (each cup about 200 ml.)

>> For kids: 1-2 tbsp of oral electrolyte solution (ORS) and that also in every 15 minutes of ORS, ice chips, flat ginger ale or lemon-lime soda, clear broth, ice pops, or diluted juice

5 #  Always be with Your Baby
